Black Cumin Oil – Nutritional Properties
Ekogram Black Cumin Seed Oil (also known as Black Seed Oil) is sourced from certified organic farming (PL-EKO-03). Our oil is cold-pressed using a screw press at temperatures below 38°C, which helps preserve its naturally occurring nutrients and aroma.
It is naturally rich in Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs), with unsaturated fats making up over 80% of its content. Replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats can help maintain normal blood cholesterol levels as part of a balanced diet.
Key nutrients:
- Vitamin E: An antioxidant that helps protect cells from oxidative stress.
- Omega-6 fatty acids: Important for normal growth and development in children and for maintaining normal skin function.
- Omega-9 (oleic acid): Supports a healthier lipid profile when replacing saturated fats.
- Omega-3 (ALA): A plant-based omega-3 fatty acid valued in everyday nutrition.
Taste profile and culinary uses
The flavor of black cumin oil depends on the origin of the seeds (Nigella sativa). Our oil is made from organic Egyptian seeds, known for a robust, peppery, intense taste compared to many Indian varieties. It pairs well with bold, savory dishes.
How to use it in your kitchen:
- Drizzle over salads, hummus, or vegetable spreads.
- Serve with fresh bread, pita, or flatbreads.
- Take it by the spoonful, if you prefer.
Recommended use
For adults, the standard serving is 1 teaspoon 1–2 times daily. To mellow its intense taste, mix it with honey, yogurt, or juice.
