Our “cheese” yeast flakes are simply deactivated, dried Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast in the form of tiny, yellow flakes. The inactivated form of yeast means that it no longer causes fermentation, so it poses no risk to your health.

Yeast flakes are a great addition to many dishes , enriching their taste and aroma. Used as a spaghetti topping, they are very similar to real parmesan, which is why they are a hit in every vegan's kitchen.

In inactive yeast flakes, you can feel the fifth taste, “umami,” which is the slightly salty and sharp taste of glutamate. Yeast flakes, however, have nothing in common with the synthetically produced monosodium glutamate, commonly used in highly processed foods. In this case, it is a natural source of umami, which is also present in meat, fish, seafood, nuts, tomatoes, and mushrooms. In inactive yeast flakes, however, this taste is much more noticeable. In addition, it is a naturally gluten-free product that can be successfully used by people with celiac disease.

Primär yeast flakes do not contain any artificial additives, preservatives or dyes . They are pure inactive yeast that you can use to season your dishes. They dissolve easily in water, milk or vegetable juices. They are an ideal addition to soups, stews, casseroles, pasta, salads, pizzas, sandwich spreads, savoury tarts, stuffings or vegetable cutlets as a substitute for breading. See for yourself how slightly salty, nutty but above all cheesy aroma will add character to your dishes. What's more, yeast flakes are also a great thickener that will give your dish the desired consistency.

Good flakes

These yeast flakes work well in many vegan dishes I make. They don't have an off-putting smell and are very crumbly. I recommend them.

Great for vegan cheeses

I use it to get a "cheesy" flavor to my vegan cheeses. It works great, and I don't consume dairy, but I have a small substitute for cheese.
