In stores we have a huge amount of various butters, pastes and nut creams. It's hard to find your way around it. That's why I decided to prepare this guide for you, entitled: Which peanut butter should I choose?
Peanut butter vs Peanut paste
I often see repetitive questions on internet and facebook forums: "What's the difference between peanut butter and peanut paste?", "Is peanut paste better than peanut butter?"
The name of the product says nothing. This is due to the legal confusion following the judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union in case C-422/16 of June 14, 2017:
"Products of purely vegetable origin may not, in principle, be marketed under names which, such as the names" milk "," cream "," cheese "," butter "or" yoghurt ", are reserved by EU law for products of animal origin ". Link to the press release.
As of 2018 , it is forbidden to use the name peanut butter . Producers were forced to use a different name. Therefore, products are now appearing on the shelves under the names:
- nut paste
- nut cream
- nut pulp
These are peanut butters only under a different name.
Peanut butter - composition
It is always worth checking the composition of the peanut butter you want to buy. Once, I checked all the jars available in the store and was shocked at what can be found in a theoretically such a simple product.
This is how my adventure with the production of organic peanut butters began. I was wondering why there is no plain butter in the stores? Maybe it just can't be done?
Anyway, I even remember my first phone call to the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station when I reported that we want to start production: "Okay, but what are you going to do with it, it is going to break in a moment". The lady did not want to believe in the success of this product, despite the fact that we were already after half a year of storage tests of our butter and everything was microbiologically as it should be.
It was 2013, so it's no wonder. At that time, there were no such products on the market and we were the first company in Poland to undertake the production of 100% nut butters.
Examples of classic nut butters ingredients:
- Butter No. 1: Ingredients: peanuts (65%), sunflower oil, dextrose, fully hydrogenated palm fat, salt.
- Butter no. 2: ingredients: roasted peanuts 81%, vegetable oil, glucose, hydrogenated vegetable fat, salt.
- Butter no. 3: ingredients: peanuts (70%), powdered glucose syrup, sunflower oil, palm oil, salt.
Peanut butter 100% nuts
Good quality peanut butter should contain only nuts, nothing else. There is no justification for any supplements. Peanut butter without sugar and preservatives can safely have a one-year shelf life. Therefore, there is no reasonable justification as to why peanut butter should contain any additives.
Search on the label: Ingredients: 100% name of your favorite nuts, e.g. Ingredients: 100% bio roasted peanuts.
Which peanut butter should you choose? The ones that contain 100% nuts :)
Peanut butter without salt and sugar
Peanut butter should not contain salt, sugar and hardened fats, e.g. palm oil. You must pay special attention to this.
Peanut butter - which one to choose?
Wondering what butter to buy ? The composition of peanut butter is very important, but it is not the only distinguishing feature of good quality peanut butter. It all starts with the nuts that make up the butter.
Learn the secret of our peanut butter. Are you wondering where this highly nutty flavor comes from?
Secret # 1 - BIO Nuts are the essence
We use the same whole nuts that you can find in our store as a snack.
Secret # 2 - Always slow roasted
Only whole peanuts can be roasted to bring out the full aroma of the peanuts.
Secret # 3 - Two-step grinding
Chilled peanuts are politely waiting for a two-stage grinding to return to you in your favorite - liquid consistency.
Now you know how our peanut butter is made.
Why is it worth choosing BIO Peanut Butter?
The motto of organic farmers: "Produce without destroying the Earth, nourish without harming Consumers" is very close to me. That is why I believe that it is worth choosing organic peanut butters .
Peanut butter
Peanuts are also peanuts, peanuts. Peanut butter is the same product as peanut butter .
Hazelnut butter
This is my favorite peanut butter. It is made from roasted hazelnuts. Hazelnut butter has a fairly fluid consistency and a slightly bitter taste. Note, this butter is not sweet and does not taste like the popular "Nutella". However, this does not change the fact that it is delicious and has a strong hazelnut flavor.
Cashew butter
Naturally sweet peanut butter (the sweetest of all). Very delicate in taste. It comes in two versions. Our cashew nut butter is made from raw nuts, so it has a rather firm consistency, it is not liquid. Roasted cashew butter is creamier.
Almond peanut butter
This is my next favorite butter after hazelnut. Almond butter is made by grinding the almonds roasted together with the skin. It has a very deep, very almond flavor.
Peanut butter nutritional values
Peanut butter contains almost 25% protein, which is why it is a nice high-protein meal supplement for vegans and athletes.
The best peanut butter
It's the one you like best. Try all the flavors and choose your best peanut butter. I especially recommend hazelnuts and almonds <3
Healthy peanut butter
Peanut butter is a healthy addition to your meals. However, keep in mind that nuts are quite greasy and should be consumed in reasonable amounts. I know it's hard, but what to do :)
Peanut Butter Ranking
We have over 5 years of experience in the production and sale of peanut butters. This gives us access to the statistics which peanut butters enjoy you the most. This is how our peanut butter ranking was created.
1. BIO Coconut mousse - not everyone includes it in the category of butter, but coconut is also a nut :)
2. BIO Hazelnut Butter
3. BIO Peanut Butter
4. BIO Tahini (sesame butter)
5. BIO Almond Butter
6. BIO Cashew Butter
The price of peanut butter
The price of peanut butter depends on its quality and the type of nut. Peanut butters are the cheapest, hazelnut and almond butters are half way through, and pistachio and pecan butters are the most expensive and often hard to come by.
How To Make Peanut Butter?
If you have a strong blender at home, you can try making peanut butter yourself. The easiest way is to prepare peanut butter at home, because it's easy to buy it already roasted (raw peanuts will turn out to be mush, not creamy butter). Put a few handfuls of nuts into the blender so that they cover all the blades and blend until creamy for a few minutes.
To make hazelnut butter, you must first toast it in a dry frying pan. Roast them until you feel a pleasant nutty scent. Then cool the nuts to room temperature and blend like peanuts.
Almond butter and tahina are a little more difficult to prepare. The degree of roasting of the almonds / sesame is crucial here. They cannot be too weakly or too much toasted. Then the butter will not turn out creamy. The only way is through trial and error to get the perfect roast.
And you? Which nuts are your favorite peanut butter? Let me know in the comment!
