Most of us associate summer with the aroma of warm waffles with whipped cream and fruit, so popular in seaside towns. Waffles are not only a taste of summer but also a universal snack, beloved by adults and children alike, served sweet, savory, or savory. It's worth making them yourself at home—especially since it's not very labor-intensive. The secret to good waffles is the dough recipe, so ladies and gentlemen, we present the perfect waffles.
What do you need for waffles?
The base of waffle batter is eggs, flour, sugar, milk, and fat. It's not a super-diet recipe, so don't overdo it with your love of waffles. While dry waffles have a comparable calorie count to a Kaiser roll (around 140 kcal), it's common knowledge that they're tastiest with toppings. Indulging in vacation time will undoubtedly make you feel the bloating in your hips, but waffles are definitely worth the effort. Well-made, they're crispy and melt in your mouth. The secret to the perfect waffle lies in the right consistency. It's important to follow the proportions and follow the steps in the order specified in the recipe.
What to do if waffles stick to the waffle iron?
Baking waffles, while seemingly simple, is often problematic. The batter often sticks to the waffle iron. There are several possible causes.
First, waffles need to bake for a specific amount of time, even 10 minutes in some home waffle makers. If you open the waffle maker too early, the batter will overbake and won't release. Some waffle makers also require greasing before each subsequent batch of batter, while sometimes you only need to grease it before baking the first waffle. Trial and error are the way to go.
Another issue is pouring too much batter. There should be just enough batter to allow the waffle iron to close easily. It shouldn't be opened during baking. The machine must also be preheated. If the batter sticks, it may be due to its consistency. In this case, it's worth slightly reducing the amount of liquid added (not at the expense of eggs) to create a thicker batter.
Waffles – how to serve?
The tastiest are, of course, the ones we love most: classic waffles with powdered sugar, or fresh whipped cream and fruit. Waffles are often served with jams, sweet toppings, or plain (no additions). Traditionalists can also try waffles with Nutella, vanilla mascarpone, or nut spread . Waffles are delicious not only with sweet dishes. Savory waffles can be enjoyed with cottage cheese with sun-dried tomatoes and basil, with a pickled cucumber salad, spread with green pesto, or, for a more filling version, served with chicken and a green salad. They also taste delicious with a slice of crispy fried ham.

This cake can be enriched with a fork-mashed banana. Waffles also taste delicious if you mix regular flour and whole wheat flour in a 50:50 ratio. If you enjoy culinary experimentation, we recommend adding cinnamon to the batter, similar to the Dutch method. Honey, cocoa, or caramel can also add a unique flavor.
