Everything you need for a creamy matcha latte at home. Japanese matcha from organic farms in the Kyoto and Kagoshima prefectures, a traditional bamboo chasen whisk that froths it smooth and lump-free, and thick coconut milk without guar gum. A great gift for someone just starting out with matcha, and for anyone who drinks it every day but still stirs it with a spoon.
The set includes:
- 1x organic matcha 50 g
- 1x chasen – bamboo matcha whisk
- 1x organic coconut milk 400 ml
How to make a matcha latte?
You will need:
- 1 heaped teaspoon of matcha (about 1.5 g)
- 50 ml hot water (70–80°C)*
- 100 ml coconut milk
- 100 ml water*
- a teaspoon of maple syrup or honey*
*these ingredients are not included in the set
Preparation: Sift the matcha through a strainer into a bowl and pour hot water over it, but not boiling. Whisk with the chasen in a Z-shaped motion, back and forth rather than in circles, until a smooth foam forms on the surface. Mix the coconut milk with the water, heat it and pour it into a mug, then pour the matcha on top. Sweeten to taste.
The matcha in the set is enough for more than 30 mugs of latte. One can of coconut milk covers the first four, and you can buy more individually or in packs of 6 or 12 cans.
How to care for the chasen?
Before each use, soak the tines of the whisk in warm water for a minute so they soften and don't break. After use, rinse the chasen with warm water without detergent and leave it to dry in a well-ventilated place. Do not put it in the dishwasher.
Where else to use matcha?
- Iced matcha latte – the same matcha, chilled coconut milk and ice cubes.
- Traditional brew – just matcha and water, whisked with the chasen. We show it step by step on our blog: how to prepare matcha.
- Smoothies and desserts – a teaspoon of matcha gives smoothies, oatmeal and homemade ice cream a green color.
