In the face of the media storm over the cannabis indica, no one noticed that their cousins, hemp, were experiencing a great renaissance. Products made of them are extremely healthy, tasty and have nothing to do with the cannabis used as a stimulant. Here are 4 products you just need to know!
In the past, hemp was widely used - not only in the textile industry, but also in our grandmothers' kitchens. After all, they have been known for over 8,000 years. Currently, more and more products based on them appear in good health food stores. It turns out that they are extremely healthy and provide the most important nutrients for our body. It is surprising that only 600 ha in Poland are planted with these plants.
Hemp oil for health
We have written a lot about hemp oil. It is an extremely rich product that is a rich source of unsaturated fatty acids. Scientists emphasize that their ideal proportion (omega-6 to omega-3) is 3: 1. Why is it so important? First of all, because such a proportion affects the lipid metabolism in our body.
It should also be remembered that these substances support the work of many key systems for our functioning, including nervous, cardiovascular and also immune. In addition, hemp oil - available from us - also contains a lot of vitamins A, C, E, as well as B vitamins.
It is therefore the oil of choice for many reasons. It enriches the taste of many dishes with its nutty flavor. Hemp oil, however, is not suitable for frying , but it can be used as an ingredient in e.g. salad dressings and cocktails. But it is also a valued cosmetic - when used instead of a cream - it does not leave a greasy film and restores the skin's radiance and reduces imperfections.
Tea time!
And not just any, because of course hemp leaves. Such tea provides many vitamins, including B and E - and vitamin E , as is known, is an antioxidant. Additionally, hemp leaves are rich in:
- calcium
- iron
- zinc
- phosphorus,
- potassium
- magnesium
- sodium.
Thanks to this composition, hemp tea - available from us - stimulates our immune system and adds energy. It is also worth adding that it is an invaluable remedy for indigestion.
How to make hemp tea?
Hemp tea has a mild and distinctive sweet taste. It is enough to pour 1-2 teaspoons of hemp leaves with water at a temperature of about 80 degrees C and let it brew under cover for about 5 minutes.
Healthy grain
Hemp seeds - you can find them here - contain the same substances as the oil made from them. In addition, they are a source of easily digestible vegetable protein - much better than that derived from soybeans. It's good to know that these tiny grains also contain a rare variety of omega-6 fatty acids, gamma-linolenic acid. Thanks to it , they support our metabolism and have a positive effect on the condition of the skin, hair and nails . In addition, they add energy and support muscle regeneration after physical exertion - which is why they are so sought after by athletes.
We especially recommend those made of muesli and hemp seeds. To make them, you need the following ingredients:
- 2 cups of oatmeal
- ½ cup of almonds (can be flakes)
- about 250 g of dried dates
- 2 tablespoons of peanut butter
- 5 tablespoons of honey
- 2 teaspoons of shelled hemp seeds
- Selected seeds and fruits (flax, sunflower, raisins, cranberry)
Execution:
Flakes, seeds and almonds must be roasted in a dry frying pan and allowed to cool. In the blender container, crush the dates and add to them roasted grains and flakes. In a saucepan, heat the honey and peanut butter - mix with the mass. Put everything on a sheet lined with paper and, after cooling, cut into smaller pieces - bars).
The best protein
Did you know that hemp protein belongs to the super food category? No wonder - just look at its properties. It turns out that hemp is the best source of highly digestible plant protein. Their seeds contain as many as 20 essential amino acids for our body, 10 of which are necessary for the regeneration of our muscles. This makes it an ideal product for people who practice sports.
In addition, hemp protein - available from us - (made from a paste after separation from the seeds, which is dried) should be included in their diet by everyone - not only people on a meatless diet. After all, it is a wealth of vitamins, minerals and unsaturated omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids (in the right proportion). You will find here:
- zinc
- phosphorus,
- iron
- vitamin E.
This healthy powder does not change the taste of dishes, which in turn determines its versatile use. You can sprinkle it with yoghurt, pancakes, muesli, salads, sandwiches or add to any baked goods.
What should you remember about?
First of all, about the markings. In stores, it is worth looking for hemp products with the BIO marking - then you can be sure that the product has been produced from the highest quality raw materials, from certified, organic crops. And after all, we want the highest quality of products!
