Plantain egg-shaped natural fiber

The plantain, growing in Spain, North Africa and South-West Asia, resembles plantain plants growing in Poland: its even leaves are gathered in a green rosette, above which oval inflorescences with inconspicuous white flowers grow on narrow stems. After flowering, the heads of the inflorescences turn into stores of small, only 2 mm long seeds. Almost 1/3 of these boat-shaped particles consist of acidic mucus - a precious gift for the human digestive tract.

Properties of the psyllium husk

Mucus, thanks to the polysaccharides it contains, has a great property: it swells strongly - even better than linseed mucus, and thus protects the intestines against irritation. The plantain seeds also contain a lot of fiber, which, together with the mucus, perfectly cleans the digestive tract of deposits and regulates digestion. These are not all the benefits of brown particles, as they also contain nutritional starch and ingredients that help the body adapt to changing conditions and act as a shield against environmental toxins. The oil contained in the seeds perfectly moisturizes and nourishes the skin and soothes its irritations.

How to use plantain?

These small seeds should be reached by everyone who cares about efficient digestion, a shapely figure and smooth and beautiful skin. They can be used to prepare an infusion, which can be used for compresses on itchy, irritated skin or on burning eyes.

The seeds contain a lot of fiber. After pouring water or juice, they form a gel. It can also be used as an addition to bread or to thicken sauces. Not more than 5 teaspoons a day. Caution should be exercised in administering to children. After consuming the husk, it is recommended to drink plenty of fluids.
