Chia - what is it?

Chia seeds, known in Polish as Spanish sage, are the South American equivalent of our linseed. Chia, like seeds, has the ability to gel liquids - dry grains are enough to pour milk, water or juice, mix thoroughly and leave for a few hours in the refrigerator. During this time, the liquid will turn into jelly.
Chia seeds are a rich source of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids in optimal proportions. It is also a source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Chia contains vitamins E, B1, B3, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, zinc and niacin . In addition, it has a high fiber content (about 25%), which has a beneficial effect on the digestive system. What are chia seeds used for? - a handful of ideas

Fruit cocktails

Most often she uses chia seeds by adding them to fruit smoothies and porridge for breakfast. First, make foam / jelly from the seeds. To do this, pour the right amount of water into the vessel and, while stirring, add the seeds (you can use a foam beater for this purpose). We do not allow lumps to form. Leave for 15 minutes, then beat again and put in the fridge. Such foam is suitable for consumption for two weeks. Before consumption, add selected fruit to the foam - e.g. strawberries, for which the season is in full swing.

Chia seed pudding

The preparation of this dish is probably the simplest known recipe. All you need for a bowl:

Pour a glass of coconut milk or almond milk and two tablespoons of chia seeds with any additives (bananas, kiwi, strawberries, blueberries), stir everything quickly, then just wait.

Every hour the seeds will gel the liquid until it finally turns into a delicate, creamy jelly (resembling jelly). You can add a few tablespoons of beetroot juice to it, season with cinnamon, rose water or carob. In summer it tastes great with fresh fruit, but it is also good with a spoonful of homemade jam or jam.

  • 3-4 tablespoons of chia seeds

Mix the ingredients together and set aside for 20 minutes. In this form, the pudding is ready to eat, but you can also mix it in a blender.

  • 2 tablespoons of lemon or lime juice

Pour seeds into a glass, pour the juice and sweeten it. Pour water over it and mix well. We wait a few minutes and drink together with the seeds (mixing them beforehand). In the summer season, we add fresh fruit and fresh mint leaves. Such a drink gives energy, refreshes and cools pleasantly.
