Important information regarding the 2024 plum harvest
In the period from May to July 2024, in the Lot and Gordon département in France, where our plums are grown, there was a heavy hailstorm. Plums hit by large hail fragments have discoloration on the skin because of this. These are not microbiological changes.
We like to support organic farmers, so the choice was easy. The same plums as always remain :) They are still, in our opinion, the best plums available on the market.
What are dried plums?
Fleshy, roundish, rich in fiber, with delicious, aromatic flesh - these are dried plums. These are the fruits of plums growing in regions where there is no shortage of sun: in Poland, France or Italy. After reaching maturity, they are shaken off the trees. They fall onto blankets placed under the trees - in this way they are protected from damage. Immediately after picking, these fruits full of sun are rinsed, placed on large wooden trays and dried. Before packaging, they are carefully sorted according to size. They reach the market pitted.
Plums properties
These fruits are a treasure trove of potassium, magnesium, calcium, copper, manganese, vitamins A, B and K, as well as antioxidants and carbohydrates, including easily digestible sugars. For this reason, they are an excellent source of energy. An extremely valuable property of dried plums is the large amount of fiber: about 10% - that's 7 times more than in fresh fruit. They effectively and long-lastingly satisfy hunger, providing the right amount of calories - that's why they are recommended for people who care about their figure.
Plums recipes
Fruits are a delicious, healthy snack and addition to dishes. They can be eaten raw, cooked, fried, baked, stewed or treated as an addition to diversify yoghurts, desserts, salads or compotes and enrich the taste and aroma of jams, preserves or preserves made from other fruits. You can also cover dried plums with chocolate or soak them in alcohol, stuff dumplings with them or even season sauces with them.
