In the Mediterranean area, milk thistle has been known for over 2,000 years. From there, it quickly spread throughout Europe, and later to other continents. Cultivated practically in every geographical latitude, also in Poland. It is still very popular among lovers of healthy food, not only because of its above-average properties, but also its wide application possibilities.
You can add ground grain to virtually anything
In the kitchen, milk thistle can be added to almost anything. Its seeds look very similar to sunflower seeds, but they are much harder. It's a good idea to grind them into a fine powder before use and then they blend in perfectly with various dishes. Milk thistle is practically neutral in taste and therefore does not affect the dishes we prepare. Milk thistle can be added to homemade bread baked on a natural leaven. It can also be a component of oatmeal, muesli, bars with grains, vegetable and fruit salads, nutritious cocktails, and even soups and sauces, cottage cheese and sandwich spreads, e.g. based on lentils or chickpeas. Ground milk thistle can also be sprinkled on sandwiches, thanks to which they will gain additional nutritional value - the possibilities of its use are almost endless. Of course, ground milk thistle can also be eaten without additives. It is recommended to consume 2 teaspoons of ground milk thistle daily with plenty of lukewarm water.
