Organic Carob 300g
Carob - what is it
Carob tree (Carob tree), grows up in countries with a warm climate, especially Mediterranean countries, where it is extremely popular and, most importantly, valued. Its largest crops can be found, among others. in the southern part of Portugal, southern Spain, or on the Italian islands of Sardinia and Sicily, as well as in Greece. It probably comes from the areas of Asia Minor, where its cultivation dates back over 3000 years.
Bred for the edible pods with grains, colloquially known as "carob bread" or "St. John's bread". Extremely drought resistant. Carob tree fruits are considered to be one of the most valuable and healthiest plant products known and available to man.
Organic carob - a wholesome alternative to chocolate, cocoa and other sweets
The carob tree bears fruit after about 6 - 8 years after its planting. By the age of 12, it produces nearly 45 kg of pods. With age, its annual yield can increase up to 110 kg. Carob pods were the most essential source of sugar before sugarcane and sugar beet took over our tables, or more precisely, became the main sweetener and took over the entire confectionery industry.
The powder of organically grown fruits of the carob tree is obtained by grinding sun-dried and then roasted fruits without seeds. Ecological carob is a 100% natural product that does not contain any preservatives, artificial colors or even sugar. The taste and smell is similar to chocolate, but does not contain caffeine, theobromine or oxalic acid (which contains e.g. cocoa). Rich in carbohydrates and tannins.
Carob is a natural source of minerals, including iron, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus, and vitamins, in particular vitamins A, D and E and those from group B, including vitamins B1, B2 and B3. It is worth noting that Carob contains only natural sugars.
