What is Agar - Agar?

Agar - Agar (E406) is a gelling agent obtained from naturally occurring marine algae of the Gelidiaceae and Gracilariaceae families and appropriate red algae belonging to the Rhodophyceae class. Agar - Agar is ideal for vegetarians or vegans who do not use gelatin due to its animal origin. Agar - Agar is a completely natural product, odorless and tasteless.

How to use Agar - Agar

Pour the measured amount into a container with a little cool water (preferably below 20ºC) and soak for 10 - 15 minutes. Then pour it into the food you are cooking when it starts to boil. Stir often. The powder will dissolve in about 5 minutes.

Agar is most often used to make jellies, jams, puddings, creams, sorbets, jellies, candies, lollipops or preserves. On the basis of Agar and milk, we can get yoghurts, kefirs, puddings or ice cream. In small doses, agar can be used as a thickener for drinks and sauces. Make meat or fish jelly in larger doses.
