What is maca and where does it come from?

Maca is a tuber from the Brassicaceae family, closely related to celery. Cultivated in Bolivia and Peru. It grows at high altitudes, exceeding even 4000 m above sea level. Known to mankind for over 2000 years. Thanks to its valuable properties, it was the staple food of Indian warriors.

To this day, the inhabitants of Bolivia recognize it as a traditional and highly valued plant with the desired energy and healing properties. It came to Europe in the 16th century thanks to the Spaniards. Currently, it is very popular all over the world. The maca root is ground and then dried at low temperatures. All this so as not to lose its precious properties.
