How to cook buckwheat

This method will allow you to prepare loose unroasted (white) buckwheat groats each time. You can then serve buckwheat groats with vegetables, mushrooms or your favorite sauce.

Prepare groats in a proportion of 1: 1.5 - that is, 1.5 cups of water will be needed for each glass of groats. The easiest and most accurate way to measure out full glasses. Therefore, it's best to find a small glass, e.g. for an espresso, and use 2 cups of groats and 3 cups of water.

Rinse buckwheat on a strainer under cold running water.

Bring water to the boil in a pot with a lid. When it boils, add a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of clarified butter (in the veg version it can be olive or sunflower oil).

Add the groats and stir until the water boils again. We reduce the power of the burner to half the power, put the lid on and set the timer to 5 minutes. We do not mix or lift the lid during this time.

After cooking, let it rest for a minimum of 15 minutes (preferably 20 minutes). We do not lift the lid or mix it during this time.

The groats prepared in this way will be loose and tasty.
