What is the difference between hulled and unhulled hemp?

In our eco-shop you will find 2 types of hemp: unshelledhemp seeds and shelled hemp seeds , i.e. without the outer shell. The former are characterized by a higher content of dietary fiber and carbohydrates compared to shelled seeds. In turn, shelled seeds are richer in protein and fats compared to the unshelled version.

Hemp and Indian hemp - what's the difference?

To the untrained eye, hemp and cannabis can look almost identical. Both varieties belong to the genus Cannabis, but that's pretty much where the similarities between them end. Hemp plants are definitely taller, they can even reach a height of more than 3 meters. They are also more slender, and their leaves are thin and oblong. In contrast, cannabis plants are more dense, bushy and do not reach such spectacular heights. The most important difference, however, can be seen in the chemical composition of both plants. Both hemp and cannabis produce cannabidiol (CBD), which is a non-intoxicating compound considered safe to consume.

Both types of cannabis also produce tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), but at very different levels. THC is a chemical cannabinoid associated with the psychoactive effects of cannabis. Its levels in cannabis can be as high as 30%, depending on the strain. On the other hand, the level of THC in hemp is less than 0.3%, which means that it has no psychoactive effects.

How to brew hemp tea?

To brew one cup of hemp tea , you will need about 1.5g of dried hemp leaves. It is best to pour the drought with hot (but not boiling) water at a temperature of about 70-80 degrees Celsius. Steep the tea for about 5 minutes. The longer the leaves remain in the infusion, the more bitter the tea will become, so after this time, the whole tea should be strained. You can add sugar, honey or xylitol to the infusion. A few drops of hemp oil added to tea will facilitate the absorption of nutrients contained in dried hemp leaves.
